Soft shadows and fine foreground details for a perfect immersion of real and virtual worlds

Contrary to any standard chroma keyer, our VMatte software generates a soft matting signal to keep even soft shadows and transparencies of foreground objects alive. When merged with Virtual Graphics as background objects, this technique creates a perfect illusion of both real and virtual worlds combined.

automatic picture analysis for easy operation

Due to our unique algorithms using color and brightness information and automatic picture analysis, just by clicking on your video, you immediately obtain a composite. Typical corrections in this case do not apply, for example restoring the foreground color after keying because the foreground color remains unchanged.

Multiple key colors

VMatte is software based. It provides the option of processing multiple areas within the video image and multiple colors simultaneously. Instead of just one, you can use several various matting channels at the same time! Think about additional pieces within your set, for instance, cubes or marks with a different tone of green or blue than the one in your chroma key background. Ordinarily you would clean up the matte to be able to cover all different shades of green, which leads to a loss of shadows and fine details. By using VMatte you have one matting channel per object, and you can keep the soft matte!

Various resolutions and Formats

VMatte software supports the BlackMagic 8K Pro IO card. Itcan handle up to 8K video formats and 4:4:4 processing for highest color saturation and flawless results.

Remote Access from different PCs

No additional, dedicated user panel and workplaceis required. VMatte is operated by using a standard PC setup with monitor, keyboard, and mouse. VMatte's GUI is easily remotely accessible from different computer points, for example the graphics operators.

Integrated video delay

The time it takes to render the Virtual Graphics can differ by a few video frames. In which case, there is a time difference between the camera signal and the Virtual Graphics. By using VMatte, you can add a delay to the camera signal for an adjustable number of frames neededto match the timing of all video inputs. Even the foreground signal can be delayed if needed.

Switchable in- and outputs

VMatte runs on one or two video cards. Each card has four independent channels. Hence, each channel can be used as a foreground, background (fill) or alpha channel. The standard configuration uses three input channels for the camera signal, the Virtual Graphics, and the external graphics key and one output channel for the combined signal.
